How you play

What’s yours to run

SIMHL is a manager’s game. You make the decisions; the simulation plays the hockey. Here’s exactly what sits in your hands — and what’s taken care of for you.

Your seat

General Manager

One club is yours for the season. You live in the GM Room:

  • Set your lines and your depth chart.
  • Work the salary cap — every signing and trade has to fit.
  • Make deals: propose and accept trades, checked for cap and fairness.
  • Work the wire: waivers, call-ups between the SIMHL and SIMFHL, free agency.
  • Set your availability so the league schedules around you.

Handled for you

The other clubs belong to your friends or run themselves; the league’s era, rules and schedule are the commissioner’s; and the games are played by the engine from real ratings — so you’re never refereeing or babysitting a server.

The host’s seat

Commissioner

You created the league, so you set the table:

  • Choose the era, the size and the rules.
  • Invite your GMs and hand out the clubs.
  • Keep it moving — advance the sim, welcome newcomers, rule on the rare flagged trade.

Handled for you

Hosting, the engine, the data and every update live on our core — you never touch a server, a database or a deploy. You run the league; we run the machinery.

The one thing everyone should know

SIMHL plays out over a season, with real people. You make the calls; the simulation plays the hockey. The fun is in the room — the trade you talk your rival into, the prospect you were right about — not on a controller.
